Sometimes life feels like being dropped off on the side of a rugged mountain in some kind of high-stakes survival game.

The other contestants seem pretty prepared, but you’re in flip-flops with a messy map and a collection of broken gear.

Sure, you like adventure, but is this even what you signed up for?

Maybe you’d rather
choose your own adventure.

Group coaching for ADHD teens can help.

The thing is, you didn’t really sign up for this, right?

You didn’t ask to be assigned projects and term papers, or to have to take out the trash or unload the dishwasher. And you certainly didn’t ask to have to do all the things with a brain that seems to have only two gears—light speed and full stop—and that is often run more by your moods than your intellect

And it’s not that you don’t know that your school work is important (even if it’s stupid sometimes) or that you don’t care that your mom is going to be frustrated when you forget to do your chores again. It’s that those things don’t seem to be able to make your brain cooperate so you can do what you need to. And others say that you obviously just don’t care or don’t get what really matters, it just makes you feel worse, and it can even make you want to avoid it all even more.

Yep. I’ve got that brain too, and I got signed up for all the same things that I never asked for. And it can definitely feel like I live in some warped version of the game of survival of the fittest—and I am the least fit around. . . . But I’m actually perfectly capable and AND SO ARE YOU.

You’re trying to find the version of you that knows how to:

  • Sort through the millions of thoughts and ideas and demands that flood your brain so you can figure out what you need to do and when—and to keep track of not only your tasks and schedules but also your shoes and retainer.

  • Convince yourself to sit down and start doing the thing, even when the thing is boring or confusing, or worse, you don’t actually think it matters.

  • Finish the thing, whether the thing is as simple as a five-minute chore, as complex as a large school project, or as important as a personal creative goal, like writing a song or coding a video game.

  • Feel empowered, like you are in charge of your choices and actions and not all the sometimes random thoughts and emotions pinging through your head.

  • Work through perceived criticism or actual mistakes without falling apart or believing that you are the worst person in the world.

  • Thrive and flourish as your fullest version of yourself without needing to constantly mask who you really are.

I want all those things too, and I get it. We’re all a work in progress, and we often work better with support. If you’re looking for support that comes with a positive focus and the assurance that you are whole and capable (even if you don’t always believe it) along with the companionship of others on the same journey, I’ve got you covered.

Researchers view ADHD as stemming from a defective or deficit-based nervous system.
I see ADHD stemming from a nervous system that works perfectly well by its own set of rules. Unfortunately, it does not work by any of the rules or techniques taught and encouraged in a neurotypical world.

✼ The program will run for 8 weeks, and the cost is $200 (a reduced rate for the initial group).

✼ This is a pilot program, which means that I’ll be responding to how things are working for our group, and possibly shifting some plans as we go.

✼ If you want to participate but cost is an issue, please contact me.

Are you curious about me and what it means that this is a pilot program?

Hey. I’m Colley.

I’m a coach, a part-part time artist, and a fellow ADHD brain. I’ve been a teen with ADHD (though I didn’t know it then), and I’m raising teens with ADHD. I’ve been on the journey of developing my own map and toolkit for managing my unique brain for a very long time, and I’ve been supporting others as well.

One of the primary reasons I became a coach was to run coaching groups for adolescents. I know how much the group format supports better learning and exploration. Now, I’m putting together my first group. I’ve poured in my ideas built up over years, my personal experiences and those of my own kids, my knowledge of differently-wired brains, my background supporting my kids both at public school and homeschool, and my learning from my coaching training and coaching experience.

I think I’ve put together an amazing program. And yet I know—particularly from the years of homeschooling—that some things won’t work the way I envision. Some things will need adjustments or I’ll have left something out. That’s why this is a pilot program. This first group of teens through get to help me shape the future program (and the follow-up program too), and they get a half-price deal. I hope it looks as exciting to you as it does to me, and I look forward to working with the teens that sign up!
